Chardon, Ohio, Feb 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The police in Ohio have arrested a gunman who opened fire at the cafeteria at a high school. The incident left at least four people needing treatment on Monday.

Officers have not revealed the extent of the injuries but they say the suspect is believed to be the only perpetrator. The incident took place at the Chardon High School at around 7:30 am.

A spokesperson of the school told the Associated Press that, “We don’t have any status updates on the students. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them. We are very concerned.”

Officials have revealed that two of the injured were sent to the Hillcrest Hospital after medical helicopters rushed to the scene of the incident. Television footage from the school showed parents rushing in to pick their wards from the facility.

Officials advised against the rush saying it has made the place congested. School authorities have cancelled all school activities due to the shooting which has sent some shocking reminders.

Every year, dozens of people die from gun violence in the various educational institutions in the country. Gun critics have blamed the incidents on the gun laws in the country.
