Celery Dubbed As ‘Vegetable Viagra’ is a Bit of a Stretch
May 18th, 2010 - 12:54 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonMay 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a new book which was written by Doctors Judy Garman, Mark Anderson, and Walter Gaman, celery has been nicknamed the “Vegetable Viagra”. This is being called a bot over the top, however, as some say it is a bit of an exaggeration.
Although the name is very catchy, what the doctors who co wrote the book “Stay Young: Ten Proven Steps to Ultimate Health” what celery actually does is that it makes him have a higher pheromone level in his sweat, causing him to be more attractive to women. The vegetable is also claimed to ramp up the male drive, and intensify the climax. A naturally occurring steroid in the vegetable is said to be the cause of these reactions.
They do admit, however, that these pheromones may not be the most potent form of stimulation. “For humans, though, it’s usually love at first sight, not love at first smell,” said Dr. Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist studying the importance of scent and pheromones in attraction. “There are many factors to sex appeal, and romance and scent is among them. But from studying the brain, I would argue that our brains are largely built for visual stimuli….We recommend that a guy work out, have a nice warm shower, chomp on a few sticks of celery, brush his teeth, and then head out the door smelling good,” says the book.
