lamaDharamshala, India, July 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dalai Lama has just turned 75 today, an occasion which was marked by celebrations accompanying songs, dance and tributes to the great leader, in India and countries all across the world. However the sad part of the day is that the followers from his own country were not allowed to take part in the festivities. Today the renowned spiritual leader delivered a speech at McLeod Ganj, a hill station in the laps of the Himalayas, where more than 5000 followers braved the rains to listen to his words.

During the occasion, the Dalai Lama stressed on the subject of Tibet, a subject which has been an integral part of his long career, a subject which he has not stopped talking about in spite of the controversy involved in it. A large banner depicting his contribution to the establishment of peace in Tibet was put up at the temple where the Dalai Lama delivered his speech today. Looking at the banner, he said that it was those moments when he tried his best to establish peace religious tolerance in Tibet, that makes his life worth living.

The Dalai Lama is already 75 years of age now and has been declared to be in very bad health conditions. Under such circumstances, it is being said that the Dalai Lama will soon have a successor. The 26 year old Karmapa Lama, who was also present beside the Dalai Lama on his 75th birthday celebrations is being considered by many as the next Dalai Lama. Though nothing has been declared as of now, the Tibetan Youth Congress says that the scenario may change completely when he retires.
