Cat called for jury duty

Boston, Jan 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A cat named ‘Sal’ has been summoned for jury duty, in a glaring mix-up. The family of Sal is amazed at how the mix-up happened. “I said, Sal, what’s this? You know, I don’t believe it I was shocked,” said Guy Esposito, Sal’s owner.
This might have happened because in the last census, Sal’s owner Anna Esposito listed her name under the category of ‘pets’. “I just wrote ‘Sal Esposito’, scratched out the ‘dog,’ and wrote, ‘cat,’” said Anna. This may have led him to be listed as a human member of the family and then be called for jury duty as well. However now Anna filed for Sal’s disqualification of service. However, the jury commissioner was unmoved and has amazingly denied the request.
Sal’s service date at Suffolk Superior Court is set for March 23 2010. And Sal’s owner Anna says that if the issue isn’t cleared up by then, she will simply have to bring the cat to court.
