Car bomb attack near security headquarters in Northern Ireland leaves one injured
April 12th, 2010 - 4:07 pm ICT by BNO NewsHOLYWOOD, NORTHERN IRELAND (BNO NEWS) — A car bomb exploded near the security headquarters in Holywood near Belfast in Northern Ireland on Monday, local media reports. Dissident Republicans are suspected.
The explosion ocurred near the MI5 headquarters at Palace Barracks in Holywood at 12.24 a.m. local time. One person was taken to a hospital, according to Sky news.
The bomb was taken to the barracks in a hijacked taxi after the cab driver’s family was threatened.
The blast seems to have been timed to coincide with the moment that policing and justice powers were officially transferred from Westminister to Stormont.
