London, United Kingdom, July 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi who was released from his prison term early after a cancer specialist said that the bomber would only live for few months has been quoted as saying recently by a reputed media source that chances are there that the bomber might continue to live for 10 years.
The cancer expert in question is Karol Sikora who said that it is an embarrassing fact that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi had continued to prove the expert wrong and has been living till date. Last year it was Karol Sikora whose medical assessment of the condition of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al Megrahi had led the court to release the prisoner on compassionate ground. Abdelbaset Al Megrahi was sent back to Libya to spend the rest of the days of his life with his family. However, the present statement has given rise to many questioning the validity of his release in such circumstances.
Abdelbaset Al Megrahi was diagnosed with prostrate cancer while he was undergoing trial for the Lockerbie, Scotland bombing. He was convicted by the court of bombing Pan Am Flight 103 back in 1988 which exploded over Lockerbie leading to the death of 270 people that included 180 Americans.
However, the family of Abdelbaset Al Megrahi has reportedly said to media sources that the convicted bomber is counting his last days. The family has denied the statement of Karol Sikora and added that there are unlikely chances that the Libyan would the reach the first anniversary of his release. He is reportedly being kept alive with the help of alternative medicine and is extremely sick.
