Canadian PM Harper won’t go to Poland due to airspace restrictions

Volcano Eruption OTTAWA, CANADA (BNO NEWS) — Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has cancelled his planned trip to Poland to attend Sunday’s state funeral of President Lech Kaczynski due to airspace restrictions, the Canadian Press newswire service reported on Saturday.

Harper and a delegation of dignitaries were scheduled to fly out of Ottawa early Saturday according to the Canadian Press. The flight was first pushed back to the afternoon and later cancelled.

Delegations from several counties, including Spain, South Korea, Japan and India, have cancelled also plans to attend the funeral.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is already in Poland, but its not clear if President Barack Obama, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and other heads of state will attent the funeral.
