Addison Oaks County, Mich., June 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Park officials at the Addison Oaks County Park are on the lookout for a 5-foot boa constrictor. The animal escaped from its owner last weekend during a camping expedition. The owner was camping at the park and took the animal with him. However the animal escaped from the owner and it is now on the run in the 1,140 acre park.

The executive director of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation, Dan Stencil, told reporters that, “It’s not that the snake is a threat to the public, just (to) small animals and so on. It’s very much a juvenile snake… We’ve heard stories of them climbing into crevices and buildings and so on — it could still be in the person’s camper.”

The park officials said the owner has been charged with breaking the rules at the park. The major concern is that if the animal is not located soon enough, it has the potential to pose threat to the smaller animals that roam in the park. Subsequently, the officials at the park have contracted herpetologists to help the park rangers locate and capture the reptile.

The officials have ruled out any threat to the public saying the animal is not capable of harming a human being.
