camarilloCamarillo, July 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Tuesday afternoon around 250 firefighters along with four helicopters and four air tankers tried to contain the fire that initially spread from 20 acres to 50 acres. As per reports the Ventura County Fire Department had mentioned to media sources on Tuesday night that the fire was contained to 60% shortly before 7 p.m. and that it hopes to douse the flame fully by Wednesday noon.

Initial investigation into the cause of the fire has revealed that the Camarillo fire started in a homeless encampment on the North Loop Drive. However it is still not determined whether the fire was intentionally set on. The fire started spreading at around 3 p.m. in the afternoon and immediate action to control the spreading of the fire was taken. Water dropping helicopter were put to work in the area along with fixed-wing aircraft. At around 6 p.m. Ron Oatman said, “They pulled out everything” adding “There’s much less smoke than before. We don’t see any more flames”.

Ron Oatman the Captain of the Ventura County Fire said to media sources that “Aggressive, old-fashioned firefighting” along with the technique of weed abatement carried out by the residents of the neighborhood helped in the containment of the fire. Ron Oatman said that the residents cleared up areas in front of their property to control the spreading of the fire. The flames were threatening around 55 homes in Camarillo’s Grove Place neighborhood and in the community of Somis. The Department had also urged the residents to voluntarily evacuate their house to avoid any sad incident. However, late on Tuesday Ron Oatman said that there are likely chances that the request for voluntary evacuation will be withdrawn.
