SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) – A California resident shot a man and then killed himself after a vehicle accident, local authorities said Monday.

Jenson Cornelius Kohutek, 36, shot Jack Euguen Larson, 49, both from El Dorado County, California, and then shot himself after their vehicles had crashed in the Newtown Road location.

Investigations indicate that the event occurred because of a road rage incident between the two drivers that began in the Somerset area and continued to the Newtown Road location, where the two vehicles crashed.

After crashing, Kohutek shot Larsen and then took his own life. Kohutek had a 72-year-old female passenger, who was not injured during the incident. Kohutek was pronounced dead at the scene, and Larson was taken to Marshall Hospital in critical condition but died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

There is no apparent link between the two involved parties and this appears to be a stranger road rage incident. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
