Calderon says new Arizona immigration law causing discrimination
May 19th, 2010 - 9:36 pm ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — Mexican President Felipe Calderon at the White House on Wednesday condemned the new Arizona immigration law saying that is forcing Mexican people to face discrimination.
During the official arrival ceremony on the White House South Lawn at the start of a state visit to the U.S, President Calderon said the new Arizona immigration law is an obstacle to unity between U.S. and Mexico.
“We share the interest in promoting decent living conditions, legal and in order for all workers, immigrants, who despite his enormous contibución the U.S. economy, are still live in the shadows, like in Arizona, facing discrimination,” Carlderon said.
The new Arizona state law gives the police broad powers to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally.
