Bus From First Baptist Church In Shreveport Crashes, 1 Killed

bus In an unfortunate incident a church bus on Sunday flipped killing 1 and leaving many injured. It has been reported that the bus was traveling from Louisiana to Georgia and faced the accident at Interstate 20 in Mississippi.

The bus belonged to The First Baptist Church in Shreveport, La. According to reports it the accident happened around 10.20 am and the bus is known to have flipped and rolled 3 times. The bus had 30 passengers on board comprising of adults and teenagers.

It has been known that the bus flipped when the tyre blew. After the accident the members of the two Meridian congregations rushed to help the passengers.

Clayton Cobler who is the Lauderdale County Coroner has been quoted saying, “Several passengers were ejected from the bus; two were pinned under the bus.” He also said that it was a group of National Guard soldiers during the time of the accident who came to help as they “stopped and physically picked that bus up and put it back on its tyres.”

Cobler had reported that many of the injured were admitted to the local hospitals. Among the injured, three were airlifted and admitted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Among these three, one was taken from the place of the accident while the other two were admitted to the local hospital before being taken to the Medical center.

One passenger, an 18 year old male has been pronounced dead after he was taken to the Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Cobler has reported that those in the hospitals have got injuries ranging from scrapes and scratches to severe injuries in the pelvic region, back and the chest.
