Burj Dubai is the World’s tallest building, renamed as Burj Khalifa

Dubai, Jan 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world’s tallest building is an amazing 828 meters tall and it was inaugurated today by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also named it as Burj Khalifa Bin Zayed. When he unveiled the nameplate, Shaikh Mohammad said: “We built the high rise for people with strong will and determination. The highest point in the world should be linked to the big names and I announce today [Monday] the opening of Burj Khalifa Bin Zayed.”
Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, who is the Speaker of the Federal National Council, said that the Burj Khalifa is a very distinctive achievement by Dubai, which will find a mention in the pages of history. He called it a milestone in Dubai’s development and progress, and which would makes the UAE a leading regional and international nation.
Abdullah Ebrahim Lootah, CEO of Lootah, said the tower symbolized the aspirations of the next generation. “The country will reap the benefits of this for years to come,” he said. Mehdi Amjad, CEO of Omniyat, said the “phenomenal project” would have a positive effect on Dubai’s tourism industry.
Dubai is showcasing the tower when it is itself wrapped up in the midst of a deep financial crisis. It has obtained financial help from its oil rich neighbor Abu Dhabi, who has given billions of dollars in bailout funds into the struggling nation, as it tries hard to pay its debts.
