NEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) — A building collapsed in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon, prompting a major emergency response from departments across the city, officials and eyewitnesses told BNO News.

Rescue workers responded to 493 Myrtle Avenue just before 2 p.m. local time, officials said. Located inside the 4-story building is the Vesper Bar & Lounge and at least three residential apartments on top of it. It is unclear how many people were inside although the bar was closed at the time. It appeared the building was undergoing renovation.

Rescue workers initially reported that 3 people were missing following the collapse but have since said everyone is accounted for. Emergency workers were treating a total of 3 people with minor injuries. Searches of the building are continuing to make sure no one is trapped.

A spokesman for the New York City Fire Department said he did not know what caused the collapse. “It’s too early for that,” he said. The spokesman described it as a “complete collapse.”

Several users on the social networking site Twitter posted photos of the scene, only moments after the collapse occurred. The picture on the right was posted by Twitter user Irwin. Another user called fixbk also posted a photo. “Eating lunch on Myrtle and building next door collapsed. Insane,” he wrote.
