London, Apr 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A British retailer has pulled out padded bikinis, after there were a lot of protests about it. There was a hue and cry in the British media about the store, which was selling padded bras on bikinis for 7-year-old girls. The top politicians in Britain’s upcoming national election, also jumped in the fray and said that such things sexualize children and put pressure on them to grow up quick.

“Completely disgraceful. The sort of country I want is one where it is not just the government (that) feels outraged about the early commercialization and sexualization of our children, but companies should stop doing it, they should take some responsibility,” according to the Conservative Party leader David Cameron.

Other protesters of the padded bikinis included parents and also the founder of Mumsnet, which is a parenting website. Justine Roberts who is the founder of Mumsnet, said that it was shameful for the British culture that such a things was displayed on the shelves, in the shop in the first place. “It’s a shame it was ever put on the shelves in the first place,” said Justine Roberts. She added that it was a mature and sensible decision to pull them out of the shop.
