ali London, July 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The man who was convicted of planning the Lockerbie bombings could be alive for another 10 years, according a British cancer expert.

The doctor had diagnosed that the Libyan terrorist would pass away within 3 months, after he was pardoned by the Scottish authorities and released from jail, but he now says the Libyan terrorist could be alive for another decade.

It ought to be recalled that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi was jailed for his role in attacking the Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded in Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988.

Dr. Karol Sikora had examined the ailing bomber a year ago, at the request of the Libyan government. He said in an interview that it was “unusual” and “embarrassing” that al-Megrahi was still alive.

The doctor had said that, “There was a 50 percent chance that he would die in three months, but there was also a 50 percent chance that he would live longer.”

Dr Sikora has however refuted allegations that he was under pressure by the Libyan government to diagnose a much earlier period of death for the ailing terrorist, in order to help in his release from jail on compassionate grounds.
