Oct 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) British wildlife experts are furious today after the death of what was believed to be the country’s largest wild animal, a giant red stag which came to be nicknamed the “Exmoor Emperor”. In reports from the Daily Mail, it was reveled that the nine foot tall, three hundred pound beast was likely gunned down by a licensed sport hunter, and not by poachers.

Sadly, the murder of this magnificent animal was legal, although animal activists are actively trying to have some special ordinances set for the wild stags during their mating season. Red deer stags are considered to be the largest native wild animals left in Britain, and the Emperor is said to be the biggest of those.

British deer expert manager Peter Donnelly shared his thoughts with The Telegraph. “It’s a disgrace that this magnificent animal has been shot at this time because it could be that he didn’t get a chance to rut properly this year -therefore his genes have not been passed on this time round. The poor things should be left alone during the rut - not harried from pillar to post. If we care about deer, we should maintain a standard and stop all persecution during this important time of the year.”
