oshine London, July 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Britain’s fattest orangutan Oshine was recently put on a diet and she has also managed to lose almost 20 kgs in the process. Prior to implementing the diet plan Oshine weighed 100kg. it ought to be mentioned here that the ideal body weight of the orangutan ought to be less than 50 kg.

The officials at Monkey World in Dorset were worried about her obese figure and the lifestyle threatening diseases that it could cause in the long run. So they decided to do something about it. They dramatically changed her diet and weaned her away from jelly and other delights such as marshmallows and other high calorie edibles.

Oshine was introduced to a healthy lifestyle that included lots of fruits and vegetables and she was also taught to exercise so that she could burn off the excess fat. The efforts seemed to have paid off because now she has lost 20 kgs, which is one-fifth of her body weight.

“With Monkey World’s help, Oshine has turned her life around. When she arrived at the rescue centre she was morbidly obese and ran the risk of developing heart disease, blood clots, high blood pressure, and diabetes,” according to Monkey World director Alison Cronin.
