LAS VEGAS (BNO NEWS) – Officials on Friday ordered a brief gate-hold at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas after a law enforcement officer forgot her gun at a restroom, officials said.

Southwest flights on the C concourse were put on hold around 4.45 p.m. local time after an airport employee found the gun inside a restroom in the terminal, airport spokesman Glenn Gardner said. An immediate gate-hold was put in place to prevent any Southwest planes from taking off and to make sure no one left the area.

Gardner said the owner of the gun was located within minutes, and the hold was lifted around 5 p.m. A Metro police spokesperson said the gun belonged to a female out-of-state and off duty law enforcement officer.

The incident took place behind security, and Gardner believed she was allowed to travel with the gun. The gun was returned to her and officials have decided not to file charges or give out a citation.

All flights were quickly resumed at the airport and there were no significant delays.

Metro police and the TSA were notified of the incident.
