Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer opens museum

Rio De Janeiro, Dec 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer has opened a museum in his home country to showcase his works over the years.

The museum was opened on his 103rd birthday and it will contain the over 70 years of work of the veteran architect. The architect has several high profile works to his credit. He is credited with designing the UN building in New York as well as designing Brasilia, which is considered Brazil’s future capital.

The Oscar Niemeyer Foundation which opened just outside Rio de Janeiro opened on Wednesday. Niemeyer was on hand to receive visitors to the museum. After that, he said that, “My friends have come to see me, how nice.”

At the advanced age of 103 years old, Niemeyer is still drawing. The museum was designed by himself and the design of the museum has all the trademarks of Niemeyer. Niemeyer is one of the most famous architects in the world. His fame is often attributed to his distinctive designs.

Niemeyer who is well known with his distinctive curvy designs once revealed that such kinds of designs are inspired by the curvy shapes of Brazilian women. Another museum was opened simultaneously in Spain on Wednesday.
