Boston Snowfall Causes School Closure, Sporadic Power Outage

yrteBoston, Jan 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The mayor of Boston, Thomas M. Menino declared that the snow emergency as well as parking ban will be lifted by tomorrow morning. However, the classes in the Boston Public schools remained suspended since the roads continue to be under snow in the city. The crew have cleaned the majority of the main roads in the city but the secondary roads continue to be laden with ice. The wind accompanying the snowfall has resulted in wires and trees getting littered on the streets making commuting a tough task for the people in the city. The Mayor has said that the residents need to be patient as the clean up crews are trying their level best to make the city roads usable. The residents have also been advised to avail public transport leaving their cars at the houses.

The Boston Schools have been closed so that the students who walk their way to school are not inconvenienced. The school buses also have to ply through narrow lanes sometimes which can be impossible in present situation in the city. The hot line of the Mayor got over 4000 calls with residents complaining power line problems caused by uprooted trees. The power supply utilities are working to restore power to nearly 100 residents suffering from power outage. The city is working in collaboration with public utilities and sate agencies to restore normalcy.

The elderly citizens have been advised not to walk amidst this weather and snowfall. The citizens have also been advised to check on their elderly neighbors. The trash pickup service can get delayed in such situations.
