Jan 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Are you a calm driver, a rash driver or a bored driver? If you are under the impression that a fast and furious disposition on the streets would make you prone to accidents then think twice, as a recent research at Newcastle University in the UK, has revealed that those who get bored while driving are more vulnerable to road hazards. However, that does not mean that you should be encouraged to drive fast unnecessarily. It only states, remain balanced and spirited when you drive. To put it precisely, avoid getting bored while driving.
Researcher Dr Joan Harvey said that it is mostly the young drivers who are more prone to boredom while driving. As a result, they often tend to to things to make the worst things follow. In these cases, the behavior of their nerves are driven by heightened sense of excitement, that finally results to reckless driving and at times, acting careless. Jane Harvey, a researcher said that when drivers are under stimulated, they do things carelessly, as their mind gets disoriented and distracted. As a result, they cannot respond to the stimuli, the way the enthusiastic drivers can.
Therefore the best solution is to keep grooving to a music as you drive. However, if that distracts you, then encourage the other people in the car to keep talking and set an interesting environment around. At times, the person sitting next to the driver, tend to take a nap during long journeys. Unless you are a professional driver and quite confident about your driving skills, insist the person beside you to stay awake. Even if that does not work, then make sure that you make it by turns and do not drive alone at a stretch for too long. Share the responsibility with your friends while driving for a long distance.
