Sep 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In an interview with the Montgomery County Police, ‘ABC’ news was told that a hostage situation involving a man with a bomb strapped to his chest has caused SWAT teams to be called to the scene, as well as Fire Departments, and emergency management teams. All traffic in the area has been stopped, and the buildings surrounding the ‘Discovery Channel Building’ have been evacuated.

At least one hostage was confirmed to be in the building with the perpetrator in the lobby, and the rest of the building may not be completely evacuated, as employees received emails telling them to “stay at their desks.” ‘WJLA’ reported that the man has “tanks” on his back. Witnesses who are inside the building are reporting that the man has “hostages” meaning more than one. They have reportedly been told not to have any contact with the media, according to ‘FOX’ news.

Witnesses say that they heard “five or six shots” but no one is sure as of yet whether there were shots fired by police or by the man with the bomb. The Montgomery County Cpl Dan Fritz confirms that the man has what seems to be a bomb strapped to his chest, but have not yet confirmed whether or not the bomb is real.

Since the Discovery Channel has no known enemies, the man’s motives are unclear, however, there are several other businesses in the same building. The man can be seen on closed circuit television, but the police have not yet been able to make contact with him.

Montgomery County Police say the Asian looking man entered the building at around 1 pm wielding a gun and looking as though he was wearing a bomb, and stated ,”No one is going anywhere.” Gunshots were reported at around 1:20. the building, located in Silver Springs Maryland, is about 8 miles from Washington, DC, the capital of the United States.
