La Paz, Dec 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) For years Hollywood has made several movies about piranhas being deadly but very few people bought into that. Recently the fierce-looking fishes have been reported to attack people particularly in South America.

An 18-year-old Bolivian man received a rare fatal attack in the northeastern part of the country. The man is believed to be a fisherman and the attack took place when he jumped from his canoe into the water in Rosario del Yata which is located about 400 miles away from the country’s capital La Paz.

The incident happened last Thursday and officials say the man bled to death when he was rushed to the hospital. They suspect that he was drunk at the time of the incident which has shocked locals.

The man was not named in the report but officials say he was a fisherman who knew the region very well. It is not currently clear if an autopsy has been conducted on the body.

Piranhas are portrayed by Hollywood as deadly but very few people see the creatures as such. Fatal attacks by the animal are very rare but there are reports of attacks in the past.

Recently, a group of revelers in Brazil were attacked by piranhas.
