La Paz, Bolivia, Aug 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bolivian authorities have taken into custody an Aymara priest who is known to have blessed Bolivian President Evo Morales at an inauguration ceremony that took place about fours years ago. The priest was arrested in a bust in which 530 pounds of liquid cocaine was confiscated by the authorities.
Col. Felix Molina who leads that anti-narcotics force of the country, revealed to the media that the spiritual leader Valentin Mejillones was detained from his home on Tuesday along with his son as well as a Colombian couple. While revealing details of the incident, Col. Felix Molina stated that a cocaine laboratory was found in the house of the priest and the worth of the total amount of cocaine that was sized from the raid is estimated to be a whopping $240,000. However, all the charges that have been levied against Valentin Mejillones has been completely refuted by the spiritual leader who has told the local media that he was deceived by the Colombian couple who made him believe that with the substance they were making herbal ointments and other medicines. Despite the large amount of cocaine that was retrieved from his home, the priest emphasized that he is not involved in drug trafficking.
Valentin Mejillones is the priest who presided over the ceremony which was held in the month of January, 2006 at the Tiwanaku ruins of the pre-Inca civilization in which President Evo Morales was installed as the supreme leader of the people of Bolivia. The ceremony was held just a day before he was swore in as the President of the country.
