Body of missing 17-year-old Californian girl - Norma Lopez found

Moreno Valley, July 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 17 year old Californian girl who had been missing last week has been confirmed dead.

The body of Norma Lopez was found on Tuesday and after forensic examination of the decomposing body, it was confirmed the body belonged to Norma Lopez. Police say they would not reveal the cause of death because it is crucial to the ongoing investigations.

The body of Norma Lopez was found in a grove of trees in a bushy area. The body was found face down, bereft of a shirt and was just clad in jeans.

Police say they have not yet identified any suspects in the case. The Californian police with the FBI are carrying out the investigation.

Investigators however are appealing to the general public to volunteer information to the authorities to help solve the mystery. Central to the investigations is a green SUV that was seen speeding off from the place where Lopez was thought to have been abducted. Police are looking for the driver of the green SUV to aid in the investigation but the investigators still maintain that the driver is not considered a suspect yet.

It may be recalled that Lopez was abducted on July 15 after she left her summer school class at Valley View High School. She was going to meet her friend and sister at her friend’s house but she never got there and after two hours of waiting for her, her friend and sister went looking for her. They only found her belongings near the school premise.

On Wednesday, about 2,000 people paid tribute to the teenage at one of her school’s athletic field.
