June 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) When Bobby Fischer died in 2008, at the age of 64, he had no will which told what he wanted to happen to his two million dollar estate. Fisher, the chess grandmaster who won against Soviet Boris Spassky, was a legend among chess gurus, and considered a genius at the game. It is another legend altogether, however, which has led to a Iceland Supreme Court ruling that will allow his body to be exhumed.

According the the story, Bobby Fischer is claimed to have fathered an illegitimate child in the Philippines, whose mother, Marilyn Young is fighting for her portion of the estate. The ruling came after new evidence was given, that proved Fischer had sent money to Young just before he died.

Jinky Young, aged 9, is the alleged child of Bobby Fischer, and as such would be entitled to a good portion of his estate. Icleland’s Supreme Court ruled to allow the exhumation, in order to do paternity tests to see if Fischer is indeed the dad of Jinky Young.

The estate and money from it, which is thought to have originated from a 1992 rematch with Boris Spassky, is also being contested by Fischer’s wife, Miyoko Watai, two American nephews, and the American government, to which he owed taxes.

According to the laws of Iceland, the lawful wife would obtain a third of the estate, and the child would obtain the other two thirds. His nephews, Alexander and Nicholas Targ are thought to be the only blood relatives of Bobby Fischer, unless the paternity test comes back positive for Jinky Young.
