Boat carrying thirteen fishermen goes missing off south China
May 28th, 2010 - 12:12 am ICT by BNO NewsGUANGZHOU, May 27 (Xinhua) — A boat carrying thirteen fishermen went missing on the sea off south China’s Guangdong Province on Wednesday, state-run media reported on Thursday.
The boat - called “Yueyangxi96160″ - was being used for fishing along with several others off Shantou City on Wednesday afternoon. It was discovered to be missing when the other boats returned to the port.
A spokesman for the Nanhai Rescue Bureau under the Ministry of Transport told the state-run Xinhua news agency that the bureau sent a search team at around 4.15 p.m. local time on Wednesday after it had received an emergency call from the other boats.
Rescue operations are continuing.
