QUEENS, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – A member of the Bloods street gang member on Wednesday was convicted after trail of attempting to murder a New York City police officer in the Jamaica section of Queens, prosecutors announced.

Malcolm Arnold, 20, of Clinton, Georgia was arrested the night of January 13, 2009 in New York. He was being observed by NYPD’s Gang Unit acting suspiciously. The law agents got out of the vehicle and intended to search and question the 20-year-old defendant. Arnold fled on foot while pulling out a loaded semi-automatic pistol. The chase continued for some blocks until a fence blocked his way. He jumped on a parked car and shot twice at the police officers.

The NYPD officers caught him hidden under a ramp and also found the gun he had dropped while jumping the fence. The law enforcement agents managed to arrest the suspect without firing a single shot.

Arnold faces up to 25 years of imprisonment when sentenced on April 8.
