Blast in near Madurai Railway station, 3 dead
October 6th, 2009 - 8:31 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattMadurai, Oct 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There has been a blast in the Cholavandam Railway station near Madurai, in which at least 3 people are feared dead. Cholavandam is a small suburb near Madurai.
The attack took place at platform no. 2
This blast happened when a passenger train was entering the station at around 6:05 in the evening.
The inspector general of Police Mr Krisnamurthy said that the suspects are still to be apprehended, and full details are awaited.
The 3 victims are still to be identified. Among the victims were 2 men and a lady.
It is still not clear whether this is a terror attack or not.
Unconfirmed sources indicate the explosions were caused by Diwali crackers. Other details are still awaited.
