Bishop asked Rep. Patrick Kennedy to stop communion
November 23rd, 2009 - 2:36 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt ( 2 comments )East Providence, Nov 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Roman Catholic bishop Thomas Tobin, of Rhode Island said on Sunday that he had asked Rep. Patrick Kennedy, long back in 2007 to stop receiving because of the congressman’s public stance on various moral issues. Communion is the central sacrament of the church.
Bishop Thomas Tobin and Rep. Patrick Kennedy have been at loggerheads for the past several weeks over various issues. First Kennedy told The Providence Journal in a story published on Sunday that the Bishop had instructed him not to receive Communion. “The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said that he has instructed the diocesan priests not to give me Communion,” Kennedy told the paper in an interview conducted Friday.
Kennedy did not divulge the details of the Bishop’s order and even whether he obeyed the Bishop or not. Kennedy said the bishop had explained the penalty by telling him “that I am not a good practicing Catholic because of the positions that I’ve taken as a public official,” particularly on abortion.
However Bishop Tobin released a statement on Sunday that he “has never addressed matters relative to public officials receiving Holy Communion with pastors of the diocese.”
It may be recalled that Kennedy had voted against an amendment tightening abortion restrictions that was sought by the Catholic bishops.

With all the corruption that abounds the Roman Catholic Church, i.e.:
1. Continuation of male domination;
2. Pedophile criminality;
3. Adulterous actions that have brought about the notorious orphanages;
4. Franciscans of the 3rd Order — the ‘holier than thou’ order which was conveniently established as a place for the gay community at a time when the church was losing its flock of priestly potential; and,
5. Pericles, the ’snatch and hide’ New Mexico retreat where bad boy priests are clandestinely sent until they can be given reappointment into circulation.
Seems to me that Patrick is perhaps the best example of honest and compassionate humanity. As a leader and for those who know Rep. Kennedy, he is the best example of the wisdom of tolerance and the richness of diversity that the church could ask in a follower.
Now, I’m going to get dirty: Remember that the pope’s shit smells as bad as mine therefore we are equal.
And, good luck to those episcopalian ministers that believe that they would be doing better by schisming-out to the roman catholic church…it’s the Vatican Rag!
