Bishop Arthur M. Brazier Passes Away At 89

bishopOct 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Long time civil rights activist and author Bishop Arthur M. Brazier breathed his last on Friday after a long battle with prostrate cancer. The activist who had been associated with the Chicago based Apostolic Church of God for more than four decades was 89 at the time of his demise. Bishop Arthur M. Brazier is known to have been suffering from prostrate cancer for the last five years and ultimately he succumbed to the disease.

The news of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier’s death has been confirmed by his son Rev. Bryon Brazier in a statement that was issued by him following his father’s demise. Rev. Bryon Brazier remembered his father through a letter to the congregation in which he said that the 89-year-old bishop’s death would be mourned and the life that he led with immense dignity and grace would be remembered by everyone. Since the news of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier’s death has spread, condolences have been pouring in from various people whose lives has been touched by him.

One of the first prominent leaders to offer condolences was United States President Barack Obama who revealed through a statement that he is deeply saddened by the passing away of the ’stalwart of the city of Chicago.’ While describing the bishop as a ‘dear friend,’ the U.S. President also went on to say that the gentle heart and determination with which Bishop Arthur M. Brazier addressed the problems of Chicago and the rest of the nation can actually never be replaced. Along with his son, Bishop Arthur M. Brazier is survived by his wife as well as three daughters.
