Nov. 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last month, the founder of the Victory Christian Center, Tulsa, was diagnosed with lymphoma- which has now reportedly grown worse. Lymphoma is a a cancerous tumor that originates in the necks and could prove to be fatal. Billy Joe Daugherty’s church is one of the biggest in the country and has over 17000 members.
Billy’s family [wife and four children named John, Paul, Sarah and Ruthie and two son-in-laws], who all work alongside him in his ministry and the members of his church alike are praying for him continuously the whole day in different sessions. His wife Sharon, is reportedly at his bedside most of the time, tending to him as well she can. However, the cancer is headed towards being more disastrous than it earlier was. The leader of the Church said that the growth of the cancer was due to a persistent infection in his neck that is making his health more critical by the day. As in all other cancer related cases, the immunity system takes the first hit, getting extremely week. Paster Bruce Edwards said that Billy is suffering form a damaged immunity system and trying to recover from that in the hospital, “battling the infection”.
Billy has howveer, not stopped twittering, and his last post on Nov 20. read:-” Jer1:19 ‘They will fight you, But they shall NOT prevail against you, for I am with you, says the LORD, to deliver you.’ We are winning!”
In a 2005-occurred incident, which made the headlines, Billy had been hit by a man twice on his face which later required stitches. The Pastor, refused to press charges and even went to the jail to meet the 50-year-old accused man.
