Beverly Hills’ Salon Busted For Credit Card Fraud

August 20, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Credit card fraud is a huge threat in today’s world and even the celebrities are not safe from its death grip. In a recent turn of events, a popular Beverly Hills salon was busted for credit card theft. The owner of this up market Beverly Hills salon was charged with fraud on Wednesday. She used the credit card information of renowned clients like Liv Tyler, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston to create thousands of dollars worth of false charges.

Chez Gabriela Studio is one of the hotspots for Beverly Hills fashionistas, who frequent the salon for their regular beauty treatment. Maria Gabriella Perez is 51 years old and she is the sole owner of the salon. She was arrested by Secret Service Agents at her salon. Perez is likely to face 25 years in prison if she is convicted for her charges. Maria was expected to appear in court this Thursday, her attorney, Jerod Gunsberg, was confident that she will be acquitted on all the two counts of fraud brought against her.

According to Maria Perez’s website, her clientele includes hotshot celebrities like Halle Berry, Cher, and Scott Speedman among others. If reports are to be believed, Liv Tyler has as much as $214,000 in the form of false charges from Perez’s salon within a small time frame of 5 months. Once Perez got the credit card information from her clients, she would run up a bill without their consent. When she was confronted by one of her victims (Loree Rodkin), Maria tried to buy her silence with $25,000 worth of cosmetic products.
