belgian_malinois_01July 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Allen Cockfield who used to be a Miami-Dade police sergeant is facing trial for a police dog whom he allegedly killed while training him a few years back. The Belgian Malinois was named Duke and he collapsed after the rigorous training session and died. The former cop has been slapped with charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty as well as a felony for allegedly killing a police dog. If his crime is proved by the prosecution attorney the ex cop may be imprisoned. He may also lose his police certification as per the law.

The ex cop was arrested by the internal affairs unit of Miami-Dades Police Department after a one year long investigation. He had a record of spending over two decades as a dog trainer with the department but was fired after the death of Duke and the subsequent investigation. Isis Perez the Assistant State Attorney lashed out at the former sergeant and said the manner he dealt with the dog was abominable. Isis Perez said that Duke was an energetic and loveable dog and the sergeant mercilessly kicked him to his death. The kicks he gave to the dog allegedly led to the failure of his heart.

The Assistant State Attorney also said that the former sergeant used a choke collar to yank up the canine and kicked him several times. The dog subsequently gave out a shriek and fell to his death. The incident was testified by a colleague of the sergeant. The lawyer of Allen Cockfield however tried to defend his client and said that the dog was behaving rater aggressively during the time.

I own one of those dogs. Any trainer worth a s**t would know that Belgian/Dutch Shepherds do not respond to harsh treatment. I’ll refrain from expressing what I think should be done to that poor excuse of a trainer, other than to say I hope his prosecution is successful.

    I agree with you.
lets face the facts, he said he hated the dog
he kicked the dog anywhere between 1 to 6 times
he is another out of control cop who took out his anger on his partner. Be glad that others poke out about him and that he is in trail, but you can already see whats happening, the judge threw out the felony part allready,
poor duke….. all the criminas he caught and here he had to die in the hands of another kind of criminal, his handler. what a waste….

Just another example that law enforcement chooses the most warped and twisted minds that they can find. And that gutless wonder who stood there and watched it (their so-called witness) is as guilty as that piece of human waste that did it. Why didn’t mister “Oh my goodness, this isn’t supposed to happen” have the guts and the b-lls to place this sadistic twisted maggot under arrest for animal cruelty, and, for assault against a police officer? I’ll tell you why. Because he liked it. This gutless witness didn’t do anything until hell came down and someone had to pay. So one sociopathic sadist gets to be prosecuted, and, the other who watched (some witness huh?) gets to remain free. What a shameful joke. Both are a disgrace to law enforcement. Both are gutless wonders too. Neither should have a gun, much less a badge.
