baybridgeSan Francisco, Oct. 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After a major clean up operation (that lasted nearly about six hours) was brought about, following the Bay Bridge accident, the traffic was allowed to have a smooth flow once again. The accident is reported to have taken place at nearly about 2:30 p.m., yesterday, when a Safeway truck had overturned on the bridge. The several of the contents of the truck had spilled out liberally on the lane in the upper deck of the Bay Bridge.

Following the massive spill out from the truck that was carrying about 40,000 pounds of food and beverage products, as many as three to four lanes on the extension had to shut down. Lane no. 2 was reopened sooner than the three of the other lanes, which remained shut till 8:14 p.m in the evening.

According to reports, the driver of the Safeway truck had been taken in by surprise when he had unexpectedly met with a S curve, that has been included in the new extension of the Bay Bridge. He had therefore taken a wild turn to keep control on the truck, which led to the grocery truck overturning and crash landing on to the bridge. According to a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, Sgt. Trent Cross, “The driver has driven this route many, many times- however, the last time he had to drive it was during Memorial Day weekend. This was the first time he was on it since the new span (was opened Sept. 8).”

Fortunately the driver of the Safeway truck was not injured in the incident. The truck had also avoided any sort of tragedies by not hitting any other vehicle while coming to a stop. Therefore no has been reportedly injured in the accident.
