sed Washington, Mar 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) President Barack Obama became the first ever US President to host a Seder on Thursday, to mark Passover. Passover is the occasion to celebrate the Jewish exodus from Egypt, after being trapped as slaves there for more than 4 centuries. The President hosted Seder apparently seems as though Barack Obama is trying to please the Jewish inhabitants in US.

The menu of the Seder consisted of matzo, bitter herbs, a roasted egg, gefilte fish, charoses, chicken soup, braised beef brisket, chicken roast, sweet potato and carrot tzimmes, carrot souffle, kugel spring asparagus and greens. The formal Seder meal was traditional to the core, and was held at the family dining room in the White House. At the formal event, the Haggadah was also read out, which is the religious text of the Jewish holiday.

The invitees to the White House Seder included Valerie Jarrett, Eric Whitaker, Reggie Love; Michelle Obama’s deputy chief of staff, Melissa Winter; Dana Lewis, Eric Lesser, White House videographer Arun Chaudhary, Susan Sher; Herbie Ziskend, a staff assistant to Vice President Joe Biden’s policy and economic advisers; Lisa Kohnke and associate social secretary Samantha Tubman amongst others. The First Lady Michelle Obama and their two daughters attended the dinner too.
