Larimer County, Nov 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The infamous Richard Heene and his wife Mayumi Heene will plead guilty to several offenses, as they had created a hoax that their minor son had flown away in a home made balloon. Richard Heene’s attorney released a statement that said that Richard and Mayumi Heene will plead guilty on Friday morning in Larimer County Court.
Mayumi Heene will plead guilty to ‘False Reporting to Authorities’, which is a class 3 misdemeanor (and actually it is the lowest level misdemeanor in Colorado law) and it has only a stipulated sentence of probation. Her offence could cost her up to six months in jail and a fine up to $750.
Richard Heene will plead guilty to ‘Attempting to Influence a Public Servant’, which is a class 4 felony. The prosecutor has stipulated to a sentence of probation. The charges against Balloon Boy’s father Richard Heene carries a possible sentence of two up to six years in prison and a fine of up to a whooping $500,000, prosecutors said.
However, besides this, the most serious of the charges recommended by Sheriff Jim Alderden would have carried a maximum sentence of six years in prison. However upon reviewing all the evidence it was clear that, Mayumi could be deported at maximum to Japan as she is a Japanese citizen and Richard Heene’s case would have proceeded to trial with a very good possibility of his acquittal.
