Fort Collins, May 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Richard Heene and his family have got their UFO balloon back now! The family had admitted that the incident which they had conceptualized to grab the attention of television cameras and to take part in a TV reality show was false. The UFO-like balloon which the world thought supposedly carried away their six year old son did not actually carry the boy.
The Sheriff’s office at Larimer County reported yesterday that Mr. Richard Heene had admitted to his hoax in front of them. As a punishment for the false reports that the duo living in Fort Collins had submitted to the local police the husband had to serve a term of 90 days behind bars. The wife on the other hand had to work for close to ten weekends without pay.
In addition to the aforementioned punishments the police officials at Fort Collins also ordered the couple to pay a sum of $36,000 which they agreed to as soon as possible. This stipulated amount will go to the agencies which showed a positive response to the false report filed by the Heene family back in the month of October last year.
Stephen Schapanski was the judge who presided over the hearing which came to the conclusion in the UFO balloon case held on Tuesday. However the couple accused in the case were not present for the hearing. The Heenes had reported that a balloon had carried away their 6 year old boy thus creating a flutter among the emergency staff and the National Guard helicopters of Colorado.
