New York City, Jan 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Balloon boy saga just gets murkier and murkier. After the Heenes were convicted and sentenced to prison, here comes another twist in the tale. Richard Heene spoke to Matt Lauer on the Today Show and said Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden was a “liar” for implying that the balloon boy’s dad called a television station before calling 911 to report that his son may have drifted off in a hot air balloon.

“The sheriff’s department completely lied, especially Sheriff Jim Alderden,” Heene said. This is very contradictory to what the sheriff said in another show about the Heenes. “The evidence against Mr. Heene and Mayumi at this point is really overwhelming,” Sheriff Alderden had said. “There’s no doubt in my mind that this thing was a hoax and I really doubt that there are very few people in America who don’t understand at this point that this was an elaborate hoax perpetrated by Richard and Mayumi.” He said this while he was giving a separate interview with King. He was perplexed that Richard Heene had the guts to deny that he had scripted a hoax, after all the media attention and even after being sentenced.

Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and his wife Mayumi Heene was sentenced for 20 days.
