Waco, Texas, Aug 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A soldier has been indicted by a grand jury in connection with the attempted plot to bomb Fort Hood soldiers in Texas. The soldier is said to have gone AWOL prior to his plot to carry out his bombing. The indictment on Tuesday included possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition by a fugitive from justice and possession of an unregistered destructive device.

If convicted, 21-year-old Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo could spend up to ten years behind jail on each count. Abdo has not entered a plea and he is currently being held without bail.

When Abdo was arrested last month at a motel near Fort Hood, he was in possession of an article which was titled “Make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom” and a handgun. A search in the motel room also yielded among other things pressure cookers, gunpowder and shrapnel.

Investigators say Abdo has told the authorities that he intended to make bombs to blow up restaurants where Fort Hood soldiers took their meals. When he was being led out of court a day after his arrest, Abdo shouted, “Nidal Hasan Fort Hood 2009!” The shout is in apparent reference to the 2009 Fort Hood shooting which is described as the worse in the history of the US army.
