- TENNESSEE/ALABAMA (BNO NEWS) — Authorities on Sunday morning released more information about Saturday’s killing spree in Alabama and Tennessee. One suspect was taken into custody, a total of six people were found dead.
One of the bodies was found in a Huntsville, Alabama business and the other five were found at two homes in Fayetteville, Tennessee. When authorities arrived they arrested 30-year-old Jacob Shaffer who was at the scene. He lived in the same street where most of the bodies were found.
Shaffer has been charged with five counts of criminal homicide in the State of Tennessee, Kristin Helm, who is a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, told BNO News. Charges against Shaffer for the murder in Alabama will be handled by the Huntsville Police Department.
Police arrived this Saturday morning at 33 South Lincoln Road and discovered three people dead in the house, and two other victims slain at 34B South Lincoln Road in Fayetville, Tennessee. Shaffer lived at 342 South Lincoln Road. He was at one of the two residences when authorities arrived on the scene.
Efforts are still being made to positively identify all the victims and will not be released until next of kin has been notified. Two of the six victims are children and most of them are believed to be related. Helm said the motive of the killings is domestic.
Shaffer has been booked into the Lincoln County Jail without bond.
