Shun Lamar Birch, 28, was arrested on December 13, 2006, for drug trafficking charges. He was wearing a bullet proof vest and possessed a Ruger .45 caliber hand gun at the moment of his arrest. He pleaded guilty of possession of marijuana and served 90 days in jail.

The article does not specify whether he was a felon at the time of the first arrest or not. If he was due to previous charges the 5 years should have started at the end of his 90 days for marijuana posession. Either way I am glad to see the “felon in posession” law is being enforced. In fact, I wish this law was enforced more often.
