- MENDEN, Germany (BNO NEWS) — At least 3 people were killed and dozens more were injured after a car crashed into a large crowd in Menden, Germany, according to local media reports.
A police spokesman said the driver of the car, an elderly man, may have had a heart attack before the crash. The accident took place on a road towards a festival in the city.
Some 30 people are in a shock following the crash, the Bild newspaper reported. An unknown number of people are seriously injured.
At least two people were in critical condition at Marien Krankenhaus Wickede-Wimbern, a doctor at the hospital told BNO News. Three other people were in shock, he added.
The accident showed similarities to an accident on Queens Day in the Netherlands, when a man drove his car into a large crowd in an attempt to attack the royal family. This crash, however, does not appear to be intentional.
