Nov.27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Executives of the retail giant Arundel Mills are facing a tough time, as the proposal of setting up a slot machine gambling casino at the shopping outlet seems to go nowhere at the moment. The 4750 slot machine entertainment complex that is proposed to be set at the Arundel Mills mall requires the approval of the Anne Arundel County Council which is pending till now as the council is determining the pros and cons of establishing a gambling location in the mall for months now.
Cordish Cos, which is an Baltimore based company would take the initiative to build the entertainment complex on a part of the mall’s parking lot. According to some studies, the complex is expected to generate around $450 million annually for the state as well as for the county it would generate near about $30 million. Moreover, if the proposed project materializes then it would be the biggest as well as the most lucrative gambling locations.
Meanwhile, the Cordish Cos has already entered into a lease agreement with the Mills company to establish the entertainment complex and is awaiting the zoning approval from the seven member County Council for about nine months.
Arundel Mills mall is located in Hanover, Maryland and is owned by the Simon Property Group. Gregg M. Goodman,an executive of the company has emphasized that the council members should give their approval to the project as it would provide more options to the customers of the mall. Moreover, the project would also increase traffic flow and at the same time would accentuate parking and security.
