Arthur Nigro: Former Boss of Genovese Organized Crime Family charged for murder in NY

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – The former acting boss of Genovese organized crime family that operated in Bronx, New York, and five others were charged on Wednesday on a 13-count indictment of various racketeering crimes, including a 2003 murder, prosecutors announced.

Arthur Nigro, 65, served for a time as the boss of the Genovese organized crime family. In November 2003, Nigro and Anthony Arillotta murdered Adolfo Bruno in order to maintain and increase their power within the mentioned crime family. Arillotta, 41, and Nigro are also charged with multiple extortions and other racketeering crimes.

Other members of the Genovese organized crime family were also indicted. Steve Alfisi was charged with racketeering including the operation of an illegal gambling business in New York along with Marcos Caio, James Coumoutsos, and George Coumoutsos.

All defendants are awaiting sentences. Nigro and James Coumoutsos, 47, are currently incarcerated. Arillotta , Alfisi,45, Caio, 39, and George Coumoutsos, 42, were arrested on Wednesday morning.
