Army “Birther” Lt Col Terrence Lakin Pleads Guilty to 1 Charge
December 15th, 2010 - 11:27 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonDec 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lt Col Terrence Lakin is a seventeen year military veteran, an Army doctor who refused to deploy to Afghanistan where he was ordered, because he felt that President Barack Obama id not have the authority to be in office. He plead guilty to one of the two charges against him on Tuesday in a military court.
Lakin could face up to eighteen months in prison along with a dishonorable discharge after pleading guilty to disobeying orders to meet with a superior, and reporting to duty at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. He plead not guilty to his second charge, which was missing the flight which was to take him to the court martial proceedings at fort Campbell, and his attorney is arguing that Lakin was not ordered to be on that particular flight.
Lakin’s sentence will be determined by a military judge, but the Army doctor’s original argument will not be permitted in the courtroom. Lakin will not be allowed to mention that his reason for refusing to deploy was that he does not believe President Obama was born in the United States and therefore is not eligible to be president. A military judge decided back in September that the question of whether or not Obama is qualified to be president is not relevant in the case.
Lakin has posted YouTube videos which place him in a group of so called “birthers” who question Obama’s right to serve as Commander in Chief of the United States military, or to be president since they do not believe he is a citizen of the US.
