Arkansas, May 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The recent elections in Arkansas took place for the posts in the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, the Secretary of State and also for several other posts in the municipal and judiciary. The polls closed at around 8:30 in the night, and the results of the elections were declared around half an hour later. It could not be said that the results were anything in the line of being disappointing, or, even if they were, they were certainly not unexpected. However, that does not hold true for all the candidates, considering that the fact that neither Senator Blanche Lincoln nor Governor Bill Halter managed to secure an outright majority against one another.
However, the rest of the results of the Arkansas primary election results, if not exactly comforting, definitely turned out to be much of what was being expected by the observers. Senator Blanche Lincoln was up against Governor Bill Halter and D.C Morrison, who by profession is a Little Rock-based businessman. It has been declared that Senator Blanche Lincoln and the Governor would be running against each other in a face off on June 8.
The most expected victory came in the case of Congressman John Boozman, who secured a seat very easily, with the more than comfortable margin of 50%, ensuring a seat for the Republicans in the United States Senate. Not very surprisingly, like the rest of the country, the state of Arkansas too chose to show little faith in the Democrats, with the Republicans winning nominations in most cases. Moreover, it is being speculated that the results of the Arkansas primary elections might reflect the general mindset of the people all around the country.
