Mexico, May 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The new Arizona state immigration law that is creating waves in the state is also affecting the nearby US states as it seems. While a section of the Democrats are up in arms against the law and want it to be banned, the Foreign Ministry of Mexico has issued travel warning for those who want to go to Arizona. The warning is applicable to those Mexicans who are staying in Arizona as well. A part of the administration of President Barack Obama has said that they are opposed to the law and will seek motions to overturn it in near future. The law has also received brickbats from Shakira, the famous singer who thinks it will make the Latinos feel further alienated.
The Foreign Ministry of Mexico said that the political atmosphere in Arizona is not favorable for the migrant workers and students as of now and these people should be cautious. The warning has been issued so that the Mexicans lacking proper documentation and living in Arizona are not subjected to deportation and racial profiling. However, Jan Brewer, the governor of Arizona is of the opinion that the bill will help in solving the menace of cross border violence which has assumed mammoth proportion in recent years.
Eric Holder, the U.S. Attorney General said that the Justice department may approach the court seeking a repeal of the law. It has not yet been implemented but a section of the immigrants have stared leaving Arizona. Felipe Calderon, the Mexican President has admitted that his countrymen are saddened and angry over the immigration law. He said that it shows scant respect for the fundamental rights of people.
