Tucson, Jan 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The sole man who has been charged with the deadly Tucson shooting spree on Saturday, Jared Lee Loughner has appeared in court for the first time.

Analysts predict that Jared is facing a possible death penalty for killing three federal workers including a federal judge and many others. He also faces charges of seriously injuring 14 other people including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

During the hearing yesterday, Jared appeared in court sporting no hair on his head. It was the first time after the shooting that the man was appearing in public and as expected, the various press houses with their lens were there to catch a glimpse of him for their viewers.

The judge ordered that Jared should be held by the police. The judged called Jared a “danger to the community.” Jared will be defended by Judy Clarke. Judy was the same lawyer that defended executed Oklahoma bomber, Timothy McVeigh.

While the trial was going on, Giffords was fighting for her life about 100 miles away. Doctors said that they have hope about Giffords’s recovery after they said she responded to simple commands.

The Saturday Tucson shooting left 6 people including a nine-year-old girl and a federal judge dead.
